Professional Experience

Randall’s expertise in marketing placed him as Director of International Marketing at Galoob Toys in San Francisco where he was responsible for the company’s largest clients, Star Wars/Lucas Film, 20th Century Fox, Sony, and Warner Brothers. He was responsible for all package design, product development and marketing for several major product lines. His long career at Galoob Toys ended with the buyout with the closing and of the California office.

At that point, in 2001, Randall turned his energies fulltime to projects he had only been able to attend to on a part-time level: Printmaking, Interior Design, Home Restoration, and Garden Design.

With a natural talent for color and design, Randall excelled at screenprinting under the tutelage of Thomas Wojak, Artist and Professor of Screenprinting at California College of Arts. As a Biologist, his trips to Costa Rica inspired him with the county’s exuberant plant and animal life. Combining his interests in ecology and the arts, Randall became a founding partner at Monte Azul. His works are now part of the Limited Editions Series at Monte Azul Grafica. Randall is also responsible for production at Monte Azul, personally printing the designs.

Randall also brings his skills as a licensed building contractor to the venture, where he is chief designer at Monte Azul Retreat. His extensive experience includes the complete restoriation of a1908 home in San Francisco, a 1921 California Bungalow in the city of Vallejo, north of San Francisco, and similar projects in Los Angeles and the Bay Area.

Randall’s design’s are inspired by modern architecture of the mid 20th Century. These designs combine many elements that are uniquely Costa Rican in addition to incorporating modern european kitchens and bathrooms. These buildings were also designed with the environment in mind, incorporating unique water collection and disposals systems and gas production systems resulting in a retreat that is sustainable and eco-friendly.
