Announcing the Grand Opening of Monte Azul

After four years of planning and construction, Monte Azul is now opening
it’s doors to guests, although the Fine Art and Gráfica departments have
been operating since 2005.

Located in beautiful southern Costa
Rica on 125 acres of rainforest, the
project consists of six departments:

                  • Rojas+Langendorfer Fine Art
                  • Monte Azul Artist Retreat
                  • Monte Azul Press
                  • Monte Azul Gráfica
                  • Monte Azul Hotel
                  • Monte Azul Nature Preserve.

Phase 1 is now open, with four
luxury Cottages, a 2,500 square
foot Art Studio and Gallery. The
restaurant, Café Blue at Monte
Azul, will open in late 2007.

The vast majority (over 90%) of this
beautiful 125 acre property is designated as a private Nature Preserve
where we find waterfalls, rare plants and animals and spectacular views.
There are 1.2 kilometers of riverfront along the Rio Pacífico Chirripó, and
a mountain of primary rainforest with nature trails is literally steps away
from our cottages.

Conceived as a Retreat for Artists, Monte
Azul also caters to visitors who appreciate
art and nature, as well as comfort.

Artists are invited to produce a body of work
at Monte Azul, where every wall in the project
is considered “gallery space”. A formal gallery
open to the public is now under construction.

Guests enjoy original works of art in each
Cottage, many of which were actually inspired
and painted on site. Beautifully designed using
luxury finishes and custom furniture, each
cottage has it’s own large, completely private garden, landscaped with lush tropical foilage.

The majestic Rio Chirripó Pacífico is here to enjoy in privacy. Dive off a boulder into a crystaline
pool or simply soak up some tropical sunshine along the cool riverside. The area abounds with
things to do and the warm waters of the Pacific Ocean are only one hour and ten minutes away.
See our Activities page in our Accomodations section for suggestions on what to see and do
at Monte Azul.

On site, visit Monte Azul Gráfica’s printmaking studio where our line of original handmade screen
prints are produced. These works are all printed on 100% recycled paper using only water based
inks and environmentally friendly cleansers.

As if all this were not enough, Monte Azul also produces its own mountain grown coffee, using only organic methods!

There is literally something for everyone to enjoy. We are owner operated and our goal is to make you feel as much
at home as we do.
