Monte Azul offers a residency that is fully customized for the individual artist.
The Artist in Residence is invited to produce a body of work on our lovely premises. Monte Azul provides the Resident Artist with a private Cottage, complete meals prepared and designed specifically to suite his/her palate and health concerns, the use of a work studio and the use of the graphic studio.
Artists are encouraged to experience all that Monte Azul has to offer both on the property and beyond, with visits to galleries and museums in San José, or to the natural environment Costa Rica is famous for throughout the world. In some instances, the Residency may include an exhibition with a catalogue. The artist in residence may also present a lecture or workshop while in Costa Rica.
Please note there is no application process.
Residency Awards are by invitation only. Monte Azul Facilities
The facilities at Monte Azul are available to artists in the Artist in Residence program. These include a painting studio and a printmaking studio. Artists are invited to create original works in various media including paint, sculpture, mixed media or site specific installations.
