Established in Costa Rica in 2005, Monte Azul Contemporary Art (MACA) offers select pieces by early and mid-career artists who produce, in our opinion, some of the most notable work in the country and abroad.Set on a private 125 rainforest preserve in the highlands of southern Costa Rica, clients receive a complete experience. Surrounded by the exuberance of the rainforest, clients enjoy stylish accommodations, fine dining, and an impressive selection of art. With outdoor activities like hiking, bird watching and swimming, guests may also elect to learn artistic skills like etching, monotyping and more, all in one place.

MACA offers art collectors an alternative to the gallery experience and a unique opportunity to travel to one of the world’s premiere vacation spots while acquiring an exquisite work of art. There is no better way to get to know a piece of art than to sleep with it! Your suite is curated with original works by Monte Azul artists, each one available for purchase. We will even hang the space with your favorite artist’s work, upon request. Get to know the piece, see it in various lighting situations, spend unhurried time contemplating it in the privacy of your suite. There is no sales pressure to deal with, or time constraints.

Additionally, guests may have real time for communicating with the artist one on one, to be a part of the creative process, maybe even seeing part of the process in the studio, and arriving at a more personal understanding of the artist and his or her work. Even without the artist present, collectors come to understand the environment in which his or her art was created.
