Sitting in the garden at Monte Azul, we could not help but think about the people who first settled here hundreds or even thousands of years ago, the Cabecar. The place must have been just as magical then as it is now, and just as alluring. How could they not have settled here, just as we did?

It is a place where the climate is prefect: it is never too hot, much less too cold. A place where toucans, orchids and butterflies seem to grow from the soothing sounds of the ever present river. In fact, the river gets it’s name from the Cabecar language meaning Land of Eternal Water, Chirripó. The perfect climate, plus pure, clean waters that abound in natural springs, streams and rivers, it is nature at it’s most magnificent. Sitting in the gardens at Monte Azul, in our own garden furniture, it all seemed like a dream. The name for the design was obvious, Kabísuwa: to dream in the Cabecar language.
