OUR PHILOSOPHY
The objective at
Monte Azul is to promote sustainability through environmentally friendly
and sociably responsible business practices, while collaborating with
the community in educational and economic enterprises.
THE PROJECT
Monte Azul is
committed to the arts, the environment and especially to it’s people in
it’s three main areas of business and operations: the Fine Arts/Retreat,
the Hotel, and Monte Azul Nature Preserve.

VENTURES
Monte Azul Fine Art
 Monte Azul promotes
the rich diversity and talent of the contemporary arts in Costa Rica by
representing artists, collecting their work and placing it in private
and public collections. As the nexus, an eco-friendly retreat for
artists and writers , provides an atmosphere conducive to meditation,
reflection, and production of individual projects in the visual and
literary arts while preserving the natural setting and minimizing the
human impact on the natural environment.
Monte Azul, as
Rojas+Langendorfer, represents contemporary Costa Rican fine artists
whose works are offered to collectors from around the world.
Additionally, Monte Azul produces a large body of works in its studio as
Monte Azul Press and Monte Azul Gráfica.
Monte Azul Hotel
Monte Azul is
expressly designed for our guests' ultimate relaxation. Our guests can
expect personal service such as in-room dining, full concierge service,
travel assistance, and excellent customer service. What our clients will
not experience is a noisy bar, cigarette smoke (the entire property is
designated a non-smoking environment) and crowds of tourists on large
buses. We have limited the capacity to four architecturally striking
cottages of over 515 sq ft each, beautifully landscaped with private
gardens of up to 4,000 sq ft each.
The hotel offers
visitors the opportunity to experience the rich cultural milieu and
natural wonders of Costa Rica all the while enjoying well appointed
hotel accommodations. Each cottage is also a private gallery space in
which to enjoy fine art produced at the retreat, as well as many other
works by artists represented by Monte Azul. The Cottages also offer
custom designed furniture produced exclusively for the Hotel, luxury finishes, spacious private outdoor
terraces and large beautifully landscaped and private gardens.
Coming soon Monte
Azul offers a Spa, equipped with an outdoor thermal pool in a beautiful
tropical garden setting, offering private therapeutic and relaxation massages and
treatments.
Monte Azul Nature
Preserve
 At 1,000 - 1,100 meters
(about 4,000 feet) in elevation, Monte Azul occupies some of the most
endangered rainforest habitat. While many coastal and high mountain
forests have been protected, many mid-elevation forests have been
decimated.
We have set aside
over 90% of our 48 hectare (125 acre) property for permanent protection.
Monte Azul is active in
re-establishing forest with native species grown in our tree nursery
while supplying a catalyst for economic development within the immediate
community.
